Hubei Museum is located next to the East Lake. It is the main institution that collects, advertises and studies culture and history. The unit sizeis 9600 square meters, and the display area is 2400 square meters. The newly built Ancient Chinese Chime Hall was opened in 1999. Tourists can enjoy and appreciate the performance of ancient Chinese chime of 12 bells. Hubei Museum has a collection of more than 200,000 pieces of cultural relics, among which most are of Chu Culture. The most famous and precious pieces among the collections include Chime-bells from the Tomb of Marquis Yi of the Zeng State, the sword of King of Yue State and blue and white plum porcelain vase of Yuan Dynasty. Hubei Museum is a bright pearl of the East Lake and also a landmark in Wuhan.
